    A series, not a one-off video

Many Realms records tabletop gameplay as a series. Cross X Agency worked with Many Realms on recurring gameplay filming and post-production: filming sessions at the table, then handling the edit so an episode holds up for a viewer who was not in the room.

    What the production covered

    • Filming days with the group at the table
    • Overhead board coverage plus individual player angles
    • Interview segments recorded alongside the session
    • On-screen overlays for player names, commanders, and scores
    • Camera matching, color matching, and audio leveling in post
    • YouTube episode thumbnails
    • Short social clips cut from the session footage

    The real editing problem

The challenge on this series is not coverage, it is comprehension. A turn has to stay followable, and the explanations that make a play make sense have to stay in, without the episode turning into a rules lecture.

So the overhead angle carries the board state, the overlays keep track of who is playing what and where the scores sit, and reaction angles and interview inserts are used where they explain a decision. Light sound design supports comedic beats that the table already earns. Angles are color matched and levels balanced so cutting between cameras never reads as a jump and the quieter players stay audible.

    Standalone social pieces

Alongside the episode edits, the scope included standalone short pieces: an explainer on what makes a card valuable, a guess-the-price segment, and an explainer on the Gemstone Caverns card. Those work as entry points for viewers who are not ready to sit through a full game.

    How the work moved

The workflow ran through the project tasks: footage from each shoot was handed off, edits were built against it, and cuts went through internal review and then client review before delivery.
